Wetting and icing
Icing is crucial in many contexts, such as aeronautics and environment science and understanding its dynamics remains a challenge in particular in presence of capillary effects. In fact, while water seems to dewet on ice, the wetting properties of water on ice is still a question of debates, since it involves three thermodynamical phases. Using experimental observation, theoretical and numerical modelling, I will thus discuss the wetting properties of water on ice, showing that water wets only partially ice.
